KINKFOLK STYLE IN OUR LIFES

Kinkfolk style is, first of all, a lifestyle. Its origen comes from the Amish community. The Amish are known, mostly, for its simple lifestyle, austere way of dressing and its great resistance to the progress of technology, starting with the electricity.  Its origin comes from Switzerland, specifically from the German canton and they have been in North America for approximately two centuries. 

Is possible that you know its culture in a trip to New York or in a film. Some of their characteristics are: life outside the city, isolation from the exterior world and the defense of values like peace, modesty, simple life and work. 

Knowing the origin of this term, we can get a general idea of what it is looking for. It is a style that tries to get back to the basics. It promotes austerity and connexion with nature. Some of their characteristics are these:

• Use of soft and neutral colors like white, light grey, beige, and pastel tones, that create a relaxed and calm environment. 

• The use of natural materials like wood, linen, leather and ceramics. 

• It benefits from the natural light. It uses curtains and soft blinds to let the sun in the house and creating a calm and luminous atmosphere.

• It values the craftsmanship and prefers handmade decoration. 

• Open spaces without obstacles to maximize the circulation of lights and to promote the cohabitation.

• It values the nature connexion, as said in the essential characteristics. Natural elements like plants and flowers to create a harmonious ambience.

• And, lastly, the pursuit of serenity and quiet, through the creation of a peaceful and restful environment

The stone is one of the natural material that is most popular in this style.
